Connect your site to the Adsovo ad network: load the ad script, verify your domain and place ads automatically. No code needed.

== Description ==

The Adsovo plugin connects your WordPress site to the [Adsovo ad network](https://adsovo.de/wordpress-plugin). You earn money for visible ad impressions and valid clicks on the ads Adsovo shows on your pages. A free Adsovo publisher account is required.

**What the plugin does**

* Loads the Adsovo ad script on your site, no theme editing needed.
* Provides the verification file for your domain and verifies the domain automatically.
* Places ads automatically between the content of your pages. You set a maximum per page, an optional ad at the end of articles and pages that should never show ads. A preview shows dashed placeholders before anything goes live.
* Offers the shortcode `[adsovo size="728x90"]` for fixed spots in posts, pages and widgets.
* Lets you exclude single posts and pages in the editor.
* Does not serve ads to logged-in editors and administrators by default, so you do not click your own ads by accident.

**How automatic placement works**

The ad script reads the finished HTML of a page and places a few ads between content blocks. In articles these are the paragraphs, on pages made of several sections the transitions between the sections. Menus, footers, sidebars, forms and comments are left alone. Short pages get fewer ads or none. Because it works on the rendered page, it does not depend on widget areas of your theme.

= Requirements =

* WordPress 5.6 or newer, PHP 7.4 or newer
* A free Adsovo publisher account and a domain you can verify
* A publicly reachable site

== External services ==

This plugin connects to the Adsovo service (adsovo.de), operated by the plugin author. It does nothing until you connect your site with a plugin key from your Adsovo account.

**Plugin API (https://adsovo.de/api/plugin/)**
What it is used for: reading the status of your domain, saving your automatic ad settings and verifying your domain.
What is sent and when: the address of your site, your plugin key and your site language, when you open the plugin settings page and when you connect, save settings or click verify.

**Ad script and ads (https://adsovo.de/assets/ads/ad.js)**
What it is used for: after you connect, the script is loaded on your front-end pages and delivers ads. It requests ads from adsovo.de and counts viewable impressions and clicks. Adsovo processes the visitor's IP address and browser information for this purpose, to deliver ads, to bill them and to prevent fraud. The script is not loaded for logged-in editors and administrators unless you change that option.
Mention the ad delivery in your privacy policy and ask for consent where the law requires it.

== Frequently Asked Questions ==

= Is the plugin free? =

Yes. There is no premium version. You earn money from the ads Adsovo delivers on your site.

= Where do I find the plugin key? =

In the Adsovo publisher panel, open the integration page of your domain. The key belongs to that domain only and can be renewed at any time.

= Do I have to upload the verification file myself? =

No. The plugin provides the file at the expected address. If your server does not pass unknown files to WordPress, the plugin shows a hint and you can add the file to your site root manually.

= Will I see my own ads as an administrator? =

Not by default. Ads are not served to logged-in editors and administrators. In the preview you see dashed placeholders. You can change this in the settings.

= Does it work with my theme and page builder? =

The placement works on the rendered HTML and does not depend on widget areas. Check the result with the preview (add ?adsovo_preview=1 to a page). If no suitable content area is found, no ads are inserted.

= Does it work with caching plugins? =

Yes. Clear the cache once after connecting so that the script appears in the cached pages.

= What data does the plugin send? =

See the section "External services". The plugin itself does not collect visitor data.

= How do I remove the plugin? =

Deactivate and delete it on the Plugins screen. Its settings are removed. The ad script is no longer loaded once the plugin is deactivated.
